CLEVELAND — St. Ignatius' hockey team is the defending state champion and they are currently a favorite to win the title this year.

"I think everyone is buying into the process we have here and trusting one another and putting other guys first before yourself," said senior goalie Benny Savarino.

They have won the last three state championships and if they can defend their title this year, they will become the first hockey team in the state's history to win four straight titles.

"It is a tight knit group that likes to play together, that likes to win and compete every single day to get ourselves better," said junior defensemen Michael Boehm.

St. Ignatius will play Holy Name in the district final on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the John M. Coyne Recreation Center, 7600 Memphis Avenue in Brooklyn.
