Akron Garfield High Cali Karim is a pretty good basketball player for the Lady Rams. The point guard averaged about 10 points a game. Get this she scored 6 three pointers in one game. That's a pretty big deal for a freshman.
"I'm just proud of her. I'm happy for her being a freshman that's something you don't hear. And I hope she sees what she really did and can start to see where she can go with it and just put her best foot forward," said girls head basketball coach Tommy Cherry.
Cali is also involved in Upward Bound, a summer college preparation program at Akron University. As a freshman she is already aware how important college and basketball is to her future.
"Upward Bound is helping me to achieve my goal to become a pediatrician. And basketball is something I love and I want to play in college," said Cali.
