Jamel Hamm is a Senior at Ginn Academy. He received a scholarship to play football at the University of Miami of Ohio. His mother is his motivation to achieve in life.
He said, "I just want to see my mom happy. I love to see my mom smile."
"I will never let my mom down," he added. "If I promise her something, I am going to put all my effort into doing it."
Hamm admits balancing athletics and academics, while trying to reach his goal of obtaining a scholarship has been challenging.
"Waking up six in the morning, going to the gym. Going to different camps to show my talent, what I have," he recalled. "Just hard work, dedication, working out every day. Going to practice every day, trying to perfect my craft, trying to advance to what I want to do in life."
His goals for the future include getting a college degree and trying to make it into the NFL.
He explained, "Nothing is going to come to you easy. If you want it you got to go get it. You got to work hard."
