NORMAN, Okla. — The University of Oklahoma will unveil a statue next month honoring former Sooner and current Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield, according to the Cleveland Browns.
The statue will be revealed inside of Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium before the team’s Spring Game.
The University of Oklahoma honors its Heisman Trophy winners at Heisman Park and Mayfield will be the next statute to be proudly displayed among the Sooner greats.
Mayfield won the Heisman Trophy in 2017 after throwing for 4,627 yards with 43 touchdowns and just six interceptions. He led the Sooners to a Big 12 Championship and a trip to the Rose Bowl against the Georgia Bulldogs. Mayfield is the first and only walk-on player to ever win the Heisman Trophy.
The Baker Mayfield statue will be unveiled on April 18.
