CLEVELAND — The National Weather Service is warning of gusty winds and elevated fire weather conditions across Northeast Ohio Tuesday.

A special weather statement warns that the combination of gusty winds, low humidity in the afternoon and dry conditions will produce elevated fire weather conditions Tuesday afternoon.

Southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph could occur in the afternoon, and relative humidity will fall into the 20 to 30% range and should be lowest near the lakeshore and towards eastern Ohio, the NWS states.

Weather officials say to use caution if burning today, and always check with local officials for the status of burn bans in your county.

The special weather statement is in effect in Ashland, Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Holmes, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Richland, Stark, Summit and Wayne counties until 8 p.m.
