INDEPENDENCE, Ohio — Businesses continue to be inundated with requests as many prepare for the second wave of the winter storm set to arrive Monday night.

News 5 spoke to several hardware stores in Northeast Ohio, with most of them out of salt and running low on shovels and snow plows. One manager at E&H Hardware in Independence said their pile of salt bags emptied Sunday, and they’re looking to restock their supplies as quickly as they can.

North Royalton-based Elliott Hastings owns Hastings Landscaping and is lucky to have a trunk bed full of salt as he and his team prepare for a busy night with the possibility of several inches of snow.

“The next 12 hours is going to be a rough 12 hours,” he said. “[More snow] definitely makes it a little more difficult. An average customer we have to plow once. You’re going to have to go over two or three times. There’s been times during heavy snowstorms like this where you make a pass and you’re going to have to come over and do it again.”

Hastings told News 5 he'll work throughout the night with his 140 accounts to clear out their properties.
