CLEVELAND — A strong thunderstorm will affect south central Cuyahoga and northern Summit counties Monday evening, according to the National Weather Service.
At about 6 p.m., a strong thunderstorm was located near Macedonia, 12 miles north of Akron, moving northwest at 10 mph.
Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half-inch hail are possible, the NWS stated. Torrential rainfall, localized flooding, frequent cloud to ground lightning are occurring with the storm.
The NWS warns not to drive through flooded roadways and seek shelter inside a building or vehicle in the event of lightning strikes nearby. Strikes can occur 10 miles away from a thunderstorm.
Locations impacted include:
Cuyahoga Falls, Strongsville, North Royalton, Hudson, Macedonia, Garfield Heights, Maple Heights, Broadview Heights, Brecksville, Bedford, Seven Hills, Independence, Northfield, Richfield, Walton Hills, Valley View, Boston Heights and Peninsula.
