CLEVELAND — Mother's Day weekend is going to be colder than normal.
A cold weather pattern is setting up for temperatures to be 15 to 20 degrees below normal.
Scattered rain showers are expected Friday; with temperatures in the 30s for part of the day, some of that rain could mix with wet snow.
The ground is warm, so no accumulations should happen on Friday.
The rain/snow mix will end during the afternoon. With little sun Friday, temperatures will struggle to warm into the lower and middle 40s.
A cold northwest flow over Lake Erie could stir up scattered Lake Effect rain and snow showers Friday night into Saturday morning.
With temperatures hovering in the lower and middle 30s overnight, a few spots around greater Cleveland and east into the snow belt could see a little slushy accumulation by Saturday morning.
The air will be cold enough Saturday night and Sunday evening into Monday morning for more widely scattered rain and snow showers.
High temperatures Saturday will only reach into the middle and upper 40s.
Sunday's highs will reach up into the lower 50s for Mother's Day.
