Wind Chill Advisory issued in parts of northern Ohio

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for portions of north central, Northeast and Northwest Ohio from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

Very cold wind chills are expected, with chills as low as minus 14 degrees expected, according to the NWS alert.

Power of 5 Chief Meteorologist Mark Johnson said the wind chill will peak Friday during the morning commute for residents and students – wind chills will be minus 10 to minus 14 in the advisory area when kids are going to bus stops.

Much colder air will spread into the region before sunrise and continue to drop temperatures in the middle of the morning, with a slow recovery toward noon, the NWS states.

The NWS warns that frostbite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure to wear a hat and gloves.

The specific areas under the Wind Chill Advisory include: Lucas, Wood, Ottawa, Sandusky, Erie, Lorain, Hancock, Seneca, Huron, Medina, Wyandot, Crawford, Richland, Ashland, Wayne, Marion, Morrow, Holmes, Knox. It includes the cities of Toledo, Bowling Green, Port Clinton, Fremont, Sandusky, Lorain, Findlay, Tiffin, Norwalk, Medina, Upper Sandusky, Bucyrus, Mansfield, Ashland, Wooster, Marion, Mount Gilead, Millersburg, and Mount Vernon.
