As a major winter weather system moves towards Northeast Ohio, ODOT crews are preparing for what could be more than 5 inches of snow dropping in the snow belt starting on Tuesday morning.
So far, there are 80 ODOT crews preparing the road with salt brine before salting the roads throughout the night.
Around 5 p.m. tonight, snow will start to fall in some areas with temperatures dropping down to the low 20s.
Throughout the night into early Tuesday and Wednesday morning, there is a potential for flights to be canceled due to weather conditions. Check out flight status here.
Blue Brunswick
In Brunswick, the city will test "Salt on Steroids," which is rock salt dyed blue. It's uses a calcium chloride-based product and is made by a Colorado company.

Service Director Paul Barnett said when it starts to snow, 40 percent of the city will receive the blue salt. 60 percent of the city will receive regular rock salt.
Brunswick is trying to determine if the treated salt is more effective at melting snow and ice than untreated salt.
Cameras at two intersections will take pictures to compare the difference. A camera at Laurel and Pearl Roads will monitor the blue mixture. Another camera at West 130th and Grafton Road will monitor the effectiveness of just rock salt.
