Winter Weather Advisory issued for multiple counties

CLEVELAND — A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Cuyahoga, Lorain, Median, Lake and Geauga counties from 11 p.m. Saturday until 10 a.m. Sunday.

A strong cold front has pushed across Northeast Ohio sending temperatures crashing. We were close to 60 degrees during the afternoon, but temperatures have now fallen to the 30s and 40s.

Rain is now transitioning to snow across Cleveland, Lorain and other parts of Northeast Ohio. Most of the area will be dealing with snow by midnight, with the heaviest snow lasting through 2 a.m. Scattered snow will stick around overnight which could lead to some additional accumulation. Snow should taper off by mid-to-late morning Sunday, but could linger into the afternoon across parts of the snow belt.

Ground temperatures are still fairly warm, so the snow should melt initially, but there’s still a decent chance for two to four inches of accumulation with some spots possibly getting around five inches of snow overnight.

This means some slick roads are possible overnight lasting through Sunday morning and possibly a few slick spots lingering into Sunday afternoon.

Temperatures will dip into the 20s tonight and only climb to the low to middle 30s Sunday afternoon. The good news is that sunshine returns Monday for the Indians' home opener!
