Local police departments are creating 'Internet Purchase Exchange' zones to ensure the safety of their residents.

Rocky River police created a 'MeetUp' spot outside of the police department for residents completing online sales to have a safe space to meet.

This week, Valley View and Olmsted Falls announced similar spaces. The Valley View safe space is located at the police department. Olmstead Falls' is at city hall. Both areas are under surveillance to ensure safety in selling.

The safe spaces come as a result of risks posed by meeting strangers to swap online sales. In May, a Georgia man was shot while trying to buy shoes from a seller he found online.
