It was early on Memorial Day morning, two years ago, when Chelsea Hill was hit and killed by a hit-skip driver on Carnegie Avenue in Cleveland.
"I think of my baby, every minute, every second, every hour of every day," Annette Hill, Chelsea's mother, told News 5.
Police said the 14-year-old was hit and killed by the driver of a dark-colored sedan that was captured on video.
"She was just 14 years old. She didn't have a chance to live her life. I know she is in a better place, with God, but I still wish she was here with me," said Hill.
It is the heartbreaking pain that Venita and Wilbert McCormick understand. They never expected to spend this Memorial Day visiting their son at the cemetery.
"I don't want revenge, just justice and mercy for my family," said Wilbert McCormick.
His son, Lennell McCormick, was killed last August at East 69th Street and Kinsman Avenue. Police said Lennell and another person in the car had an argument. That is when Lennell got out of the car and was hit and killed by a car, the driver never stopped.
Both of these cases are open and Cleveland detectives are still searching for answers but all of the leads have led to dead ends. Lt James O'Malley said he feels awful for any family that has to go through this type of pain and he has a message for both drivers.
"I hope they can't sleep at night because these families can't because of their loss," said O'Malley.
Cleveland Police are working on several other unsolved deadly hit-skip accidents that have happened recently.
Donald Stalla was killed on Denison Ave. Maurice Cowan on Kinsman Ave. Carlos Long on E. 71st and Euclid. Willie Williams at Superior and East Blvd.
All remain open but unsolved.
