RICHFIELD, Ohio — A father of two drowned the day after Christmas in a Richfield hotel pool in what appears to be a tragic accident, according to authorities.
The 26-year-old Cleveland man was visiting the Days Inn on Brecksville Road with his family, wife and two children Wednesday when the incident happened just before 10 a.m.
The man was swimming in shallow water at one end of the pool, but he accidentally ended up in the deep end. The man shouted for help but family members didn't know how to swim and were unable to help him, authorities said.
A guest from a nearby hotel room who heard the commotion and came out of her room found the man at the bottom of the deep end of the pool, authorities said. Staff pulled the man out of the water and administered CPR.
The man was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead, authorities said.
The man's name has not been released by authorities.
