Ashland police arrest six in meth bust

Authorities in Ashland arrested six people during a meth bust Thursday afternoon. 

Officers from the police division, Ashland Special Response Team, and the METRICH Enforcement Unit seized methamphetamine, drug abuse instruments, drug paraphernalia and evidence related to drug trafficking after conducting a search warrant at a room at the Almond Tree Inn on Cleveland Avenue in Ashland. 

Two people, Steven Johnson, 41, Shana Rhoades, 20, Joey Cruz, 28, and Nicholas Mateo, 39, were all arrested at the inn. 

Later in the day, officers arrested 24-year-old Ashlea Roberts as a part of the investigation, accompanied by 22-year-old Malcolm Evege who was arrested on a warrant out of Ashland Municipal Court. 

In addition to the arrests, the investigation led to the removal of an 18-month-old child at an address on State Route 511 with the assistance of Ashland County Children's Services and the Ashland County Sheriff's office. 

The investigation is ongoing.
