CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — A server at Zoma Ethiopian Restaurant in Cleveland Heights got quite the surprise Friday when a generous customer left a $400 tip along with a note to pay it forward.
According to the restaurant owner, the order came to $17.80. The customer left the $400 tip along with a note on the back of the receipt.
In the note, the customer left instructions to give a portion of the tip to another server who helped as well as a portion to the staff in the back of the restaurant.
"Great food, I loved the music and culture," the note on the receipt stated. "I got a big portion of food for a reasonable price."
In the note, the customer told the server to use the rest of the money to help pay for school and to pay it forward.
The owner said it shows just how wonderful his restaurant's customers are.
