ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — Longtime Rocky River business Michael’s Restaurant & Bar announced it is closing their doors after spending nearly 42 years feeding the Greater Cleveland community.
Owner Mike Petrakis thanked customers around the Greater Cleveland area for helping him achieve the American dream. After working in the restaurant business for 50 years, Petrakis says it’s time to enjoy the next part of his life: his retirement.
“I came to this country from Greece in the 1970s with very little. In 42 years, I started a successful business, met my wife raised four children who have grown into successful adults and have been blessed with a beautiful granddaughter," he said.
The restaurant will close its doors on Sunday, June 2 at 9 p.m. To show special appreciation who has supported the business over the years, the restaurant will offer several breakfast, lunch and dinner specials at 1977 prices along with the current menu this week.
I was fortunate enough to serve tens of thousands of free Thanksgiving meals from 1970s until recently as my way to offer my gratitude to this Country that offered me so many successes and my way to give thanks back to the community and to my loyal customers.
All this week we will feature Chef Dino’s dishes from the regular menu so that patrons can enjoy their favorite means and have the opportunity to redeem their restaurant gift cards.
I’m looking forward to seeing as many old friends and customers that can stop by to share their memories one last time with us this week. I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to all my former and current employees who have supported me through the years.
I look forward to spending quality time with my family but I will miss serving the greater community, as it became an extension of our family the past 42 years. Thank you again to all our loyal friends and customers for your support and love over the past four decades.
