Runners, spectators and commuters: Everything you need to know for the 2019 Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon

CLEVELAND — The 42nd Annual Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon Race will bring thousands of people from all over the country to downtown to run in the internationally recognized race, featuring some of the cities most iconic landmarks and streets. Whether you’re running the race, watching and supporting runners, or just commuting through the Cleveland area, here’s everything you need to know about the 2019 Cleveland Marathon happening Sunday, May 19.

For runners

Registration

Participants will need to pick up their packets at the Huntington Convention Center, 300 Lakeside Avenue, on Friday, May 17 from 12- 7p.m. and Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

No race day registration packets will be allowed for pick up.

Race Day

All runners— marathon, half marathon, 10K runners and walkers— meet at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse at 6 a.m. for the 7 a.m. race start time.

The marathon route has changed over the years. This year the course includes North Coast Harbor and an extended route through the Detroit Shoreway and Gordon Square Arts District. The finish line is located at Public Square.

Following the race, runners, volunteers and spectators can celebrate together at the 26.3 Mile Rock Party at Public Square starting at 8:30 a.m. This free event will include live music, refreshments, a beer garden (opens at 8 a.m.) and merchandise sales.

Parking restrictions and street closures

Participants are required to be downtown on May 20 before 6 a.m. when many of the roads are closed.

Below is a list of which streets will be closed and when:

In addition, in Lakewood and Rocky River, the following restrictions will be in place, according to race officials:

Lake Avenue between W. 117th and Kensington (Rocky River). Please note Lake Avenue turns into Lake Road in RR.

All access streets along this portion of the routes have limited access.

No Parking on Lake Avenue between 5:00am and 5:00pm
