Akron man found guilty of sexually assaulting nursing home resident

An Akron man was found guilty of sexual assaulting a nursing home resident at the Brookdale Montrose Nursing Home. 

According to the Summit County Persecutor's Office, a jury found 59-year-old Edward McShaffrey of Coventry Street in Akron guilty of one count of gross sexual imposition, which is a felony of the fourth degree. 

In January, McShaffrey was a licensed practical nurse working at the nursing home when the incident occurred with the 69-year-old victim who suffered from dementia and Parkinson's disease. The victim was unable to communicate. 

McShaffrey's sentencing is scheduled for January 25, 2017 at 11 a.m.
