CLEVELAND — Gov. Mike DeWine is in Cleveland Monday to speak about the coronavirus pandemic and the state’s response as Ohio hit record levels of new cases last week.
DeWine is scheduled to land at Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland and speak to reporters at 2 p.m. Watch a livestream of DeWine’s news conference below:
The governor took a somber tone during his semiweekly COVID-19 news briefing last week as new cases surged across the state, breaking daily case reports three days in a row over the 2,000 mark.
DeWine said last Thursday the increase in cases is coming from families and friends hosting events such as bonfires, birthday parties, weddings and funerals.
"Now is really the time to rethink whether these are in the best interest of the community. Our health commissioners tell us they're seeing less and less mask compliance when people are out, and the people are not wearing masks when they're with friends and family," DeWine said last week.
