COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Gunfire inside an after-hours club left nine people hospitalized early Sunday.
It's Ohio's second mass shooting at a club in recent weeks. And, like the nightclub shooting in Cincinnati last month, Columbus police say Sunday's incident started with an argument.
A shooter or shooters opened fire inside J&R Party Hall at about 3:20 a.m., according to Columbus police. The victims' injuries ranged from minor to life-threatening.
Two people were in stable condition at OSU Medical Center, and two people were in critical condition at Grant Medical Center, WBNS reports. The five other victims also were at Grant.
According to Columbus police, five victims are female, and four are male. The department had no information on the shooter or shooters.
Cincinnati police also blamed an argument for a mass shooting at Cameo Night Club in the city's East End neighborhood March 26. That incident left two people dead and 15 others injured. Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters -- who referred to the incident as a "shootout" and not a "mass shooting" -- said two neighborhood groups had a dispute "over nothing."

"This wasn't like somebody going into a school and trying to create a body count," Deters said. "These were guys shooting at each other and many innocent people were in between the two."
O'Bryan Spikes, 27, and Deondre Davis, 29, both died of their injuries. Davis was considered a suspect in Spikes' death; Deters dropped the charges after he died.
Cornell Beckley, 27, has pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder -- one each for Spikes and Davis -- as well as dozens of other charges.
