Ever get a call from the US Marshals office? Well, if you do, you may want to hang up.
Scammers are posing as US Marshal Pete Elliot and others.

Elliot told News 5 they use phone calls to scare people into falling for a ploy to get their money after grabbing their personal information online.

"Say you didn't pay a ticket, they're going to have some knowledge of some things," Marshal Elliot said.

Then they claim you owe money, or need to rush to court.

"I think people are trying to make money! And they're making threats to the public. So we are gonna get them," he said.

Elliot told News 5 they are working with the FBI to investigate the calls that are being reported all over Northeast Ohio- Adding that the US Marshals office will never call you or ask for me.

Bath Police have reported the same calls are a way to lure you from your home to break in.

So if you get a call from someone claiming to be a US Marshall or employee of their office? It's best to hang up and report it to police.
