AKRON, Ohio — On Saturday, an employee at an Akron McDonald’s was stabbed by a customer who became irrationally upset over the cost of his McDouble order, according to a report from the Akron Police Department.

Darrell Roberts, 63, was charged with felonious assault after he pulled a knife on a female employee after he began arguing with her over his order.

On Saturday at around 3:50 p.m., the female employee told police that Roberts came into the McDonald’s on East Market Street and began arguing with her about the cost of his order, which included two McDoubles and a large coffee.

According to the police report, the employee said Robert called her a racial slur. At that point, she told him he wasn’t getting any food and that he had to leave.

Roberts pulled out a knife and walked around the counter to confront the employee, the report states. He swung a knife at her and cut the employee on her left forearm.

Other employees inside the restaurant were able to get the knife out of his possession and escort him out.

Police located Roberts in the area of E. Market and Arch streets. He admitted he was upset over allegedly being overcharged for two McDoubles. He admitted to having the knife, but said he left it inside the restaurant.

Roberts was arrested and taken to the Summit County Jail.

The employee was treated for her arm injury and later took herself to Akron City Hospital-Summa Health.
