AKRON, Ohio — An Akron elementary school will be closed on Tuesday due to heat.
Firestone Park Elementary School made the decision on Monday.
The school does not have air conditioning and its roof is being repaired. Due to the repairs, all windows inside of the school have to be closed.
Temperatures are expected to reach 90 degrees on Tuesday, which will be the first time that has happened in October since 1946.
Chief Meteorologist Mark Johnson said classrooms without air conditioning could reach temperatures around 100 degrees.
