AKRON, Ohio — An Akron man has been found guilty of raping a teenager two months after being released from prison for rape and kidnapping.

In November 2018, Juba Ali, 64, drove the teen to a secluded area in Akron and raped her.

Ali was found guilty of rape, kidnapping with a sexual motivation and gross sexual imposition.

This is the second time Ali has been convicted of rape.

In May 1998, Ali was found guilty of rape and kidnapping and was sentenced to 21-and-a-half years in prison.

After completing his entire sentence, Ali was released from prison and raped the teenager two months later, according to court documents.

“I am so proud of the survivor for having the courage to come forward and tell a jury of strangers about the horrible things he did to her. Mr. Ali is a dangerous person and deserves a long prison sentence to keep the community safe,” said Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh.

Ali was indicted with a sexually violent predator specification.

A hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 6 to determine if Ali is a sexual violent predator. He will be sentenced following the hearing.
