AKRON, Ohio — An Akron man has been sentenced to 41.5 years in prison for assault, robbery and kidnapping.

In July 2018, Kevin Carter, 26, robbed a man at gunpoint. He then hit the man with his gun, forced the victim at gunpoint to take his clothes off and get in the trunk of a car, according to court records.

The man was also tied up but managed to escape.

One week later, Carter shot a 51-year-old man as he walked down the street with his adult grandson. Authorities said Carter had an ongoing feud with the adult grandson.

Carter was found guilty of aggravated robbery with a firearm specification, kidnapping with a firearm specification and having weapons under disability in April for the first crime.

He was found guilty of two counts of felonious assault and having weapons under disability for the second crime.
