AKRON, Ohio — A man staying at a boarding house was shot Tuesday night for eating chicken another tenant was cooking, according to the Akron Police Department.

Police responded to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital around 7:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a man shot. When the victim was interviewed by police, he told the officers he was shot at a boarding house on West Dalton Avenue.

Authorities say the victim told them he walked in the kitchen where the alleged shooter was cooking and grabbed two pieces of chicken and ate them.

This upset the other person, who then allegedly grabbed the victim by the throat, threw him on the floor and then shot him in the shoulder, authorities said.

The victim’s injuries were non-life-threatening, according to police.

Authorities say the shooter has been identified, but no charges have been filed.
