AKRON, Ohio — A 23-year-old Akron woman who was killed after her car struck a tree on East Waterloo Road in Akron has been identified by the Akron Police Department.

The crash victim has been identified as Neena D. Eagle, 23, of Akron, according to a news release from police.

Akron police said on Wednesday at around 2:30 a.m., a 2002 Ford Escape, driven by Eagle, was traveling eastbound on East Waterloo Road, when she lost control, drove up over the south curb edge and struck a tree.

The vehicle was severely damaged, and as a result, she was killed in the crash, police said.

Police said she was the only occupant inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Police said speed and alcohol appear to be a factor in the crash. She was not wearing a seat belt and the airbags did not deploy, the news release states.

The crash remains under investigation.
