Police are investigating a fatal shooting that took the life of an 18-year-old man in Akron on Tuesday night.
According to the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office, the shooting took place around 7 p.m. near Herberich Street and Lovers Lane.
Police initially responded after they received a report of shots fired. When authorities arrived, they found the man in the back seat of a Chrysler 300 with a gunshot wound.
Investigators said the driver of the car the man was in stopped to talk to two males on the 1000 block of Herberich Avenue. Sometime during the conversation, one of the men pulled out a handgun and shot the victim.
The driver fled the area and called police after parking on a nearby street.
The victim was transported to Akron City Hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries.
The alleged shooter is described as a white male, about 17 to 20 years old. He stands about 5-foot-9-inches tall and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
Police didn't provide a description of the second male.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
