AKRON, Ohio — Akron police and the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office are investigating a shooting that killed a 37-year-old man on an Akron street Tuesday night.
Akron police and EMS responded at about 8:30 p.m near the intersection of Clark and Black streets for a possible shooting.
When they arrived, they found a 37-year-old man, later identified as Daniel L. Jones from Akron, unresponsive on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound to the thorax, an area of the body between the neck and the abdomen.
The man was taken to Summa Akron City Hospital where he later died from his injuries at about 10:20 p.m.
An autopsy confirmed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the torso.
