Akron police investigating New Year's Eve fatal shooting

AKRON, Ohio — Akron police are investigating a fatal shooting.

The shooting happened around 10:45 p.m. in the 800 block of Kenyon Street.

When police arrived, they found a silver Chevrolet Malibu in the middle of the street.

A 24-year-old man, later identified by the medical examiner as Darrick R. Boyer, was found inside the vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.

Boyer was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medicine Center, where he later died.

Police are searching for two men between 20 and 30 years old that are 5-feet-10-inches tall and weigh between 150 and 180 pounds. The pair fled eastbound on Kenyon Street in an unknown vehicle.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call police at 330-375-2490.
