Mark Whitmire, 57, was pronounced dead at 3:40 p.m. Friday, the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office reported.
Police are still investigating the incident that led up to Whitmire's death. Whitmire, who is an Akron city employee, was found on Clearview Avenue near Manchester Road on Aug. 25. He was breathing, but unresponsive.
It's still unclear if he was hit by a car, slid on the roadway or lost control of his bike.
