AKRON, Ohio — Authorities are searching for two men who robbed and carjacked a couple after hitting their car in Akron Wednesday evening, according to the Akron Police Department.

Officers were called to the area of Work Drive and Wildwood Avenue in West Akron around 6:42 p.m.

Once on scene, a 53-year-old woman and 56-year-old man told officers they were stopped at that location in their 2005 Kia Sedona when a black Chevrolet Impala bumped into their car from behind, police said.

After striking the Kia, a man got out of the Chevy, approached the driver’s side of the Kia and pointed a handgun at them, according to police.

The man ordered the couple out of the Kia and demanded the man’s wallet. He then stole their car, police said.

A second, unknown man fled the scene in the Chevy.

Neither of the two victims were injured during the incident and the Kia was recovered in West Akron early Thursday morning around 2:58 a.m.

The two men have not been apprehended and are considered armed and dangerous.
