AKRON, Ohio — Authorities arrested a man Wednesday afternoon after a woman allegedly overdosed while in the car with her 11-month-old son, according to Akron police.

Officers responded to a gas station in the 2500 block of Mogadore Road for an overdose.

At the gas station, they found an unresponsive woman in the front seat of a 1998 Buick Century. Inside the car, they found the woman's 11-month-old son in the back seat of the car, according to police.

While paramedics were administering naloxone to the woman, the driver, identified as Andrew Carter, 19, of Herbert Street in Mogadore, came over to the car, police said.

The woman was revived and taken to Summa Akron City Hospital. She told police that they bought fentanyl on Manchester Road.

Carter was arrested and charged with child endangering and booked into the Summit County Jail.

The child was placed into the custody of Summit County Child Services, police said.

Police did not release any further information.
