A 28-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday by Akron police after he allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend's child and then spit on a paramedic.

Jaquan P. Isom, of Eastland Avenue, Akron, was charged with kidnapping, a second-degree felony.

According to authorities, police were called to Eastland Avenue for a domestic fight. The man's ex told police on scene that Isom took her child and left. Isom eventually returned without the child.

When officers tried to handcuff Isom, they said he fell to the ground and acted liked he was injured. Police said Isom tried to spit on a nearby officer but missed and hit a paramedic who was checking on him.

Isom was taken to a nearby hospital and then to the Summit County Jail. The child was found at a location nearby.

Isom is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
