BOSTON — A Marine from Tallmadge, who was running to pay tribute to three Marines who were killed in Afghanistan, crawled across the Boston Marathon finish line.

Micah Herndon, who survived an IED explosion in Afghanistan in 2010, collapsed and crawled to the finish line at the Boston Marathon.

News 5 media partner at the Record Courier sat down with Herndon before the big race.

“I run in honor of them,” Herndon told the Record-Courier. “They are not here anymore. I am here, and I am able. I am lucky to still have all my limbs. I can still be active. I find fuel in the simple idea that I can run. Some cannot."

He said that whenever he feels like giving up he just repeats their names: Mark Juarez, Matthew Ballard and Rupert Hamer.
