One dead, one seriously injured in Akron shooting

The Akron Police Department is investigating after one man was killed and another injured in a shooting in the 1300 block of Manchester Drive.

The shooting occurred in broad daylight. Police were called to the scene around 2:36 p.m.

A 26-year-old man was pronounced dead on scene and a 20-year-old man was taken to Akron General Hospital where he remains in serious condition.

Police say the victims of the shooting were parked in a car on Manchester Drive when the suspect’s car pulled up next to them. The suspect got out of the car and began shooting into the victim’s car, according to reports. Police say there was a 5-year-old girl in the car at the time, but she was not hurt.

According to police, the suspect than fled the scene in a silver Ford Focus.
