Posted

A speeding driver crashed into a man walking across an Akron street just after midnight Thursday.

Akron police said  the driver of a silver Ford Fusion was heading westbound on Vernon Odom Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he hit a man crossing the street in front of the Hi-De-Ho Lounge.

After striking the man in the street, the driver then hit a car that was also traveling westbound on Vernon Odom.

Akron police said the pedestrian suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The impact was described as a glancing blow that tore the driver side mirror off the car and broke a window.

The impact with the other car did significant damage to the Fusion's right front fender.

The driver was being cited for both incidents and was released at the scene.
