AKRON, Ohio — The deaths of a man and baby found dead in an Akron driveway are now being investigated as homicides, according to the Akron Police Department.

Horace Lee, 43, was pushing his two-year-old daughter Azeria Tucker in her stroller on the sidewalk in the 400 block of Crouse Street when detectives believe a driver intentionally hit and killed them.

Lee and Azeria were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

“They had to die so tragically. Senselessly,” his sister Carmon Lee said. “Because nothing could possibly be worth taking somebody’s life.”

Lee’s sisters say he was a single father after Azeria’s mother died late last year.

“My brother didn’t bother anybody. Ever,” Katrina Lee said. “And his daughter, well she didn’t bother nobody but him.”

Akron Police are working to gain any information from the community as well as potential witnesses.

“It was a very specific and intentional act and we’re hopeful that as the investigation progresses we’re able to identify the person or persons responsible,” Lt. Michael Miller said.

Detectives are encouraging Akron residents that live near Crouse Street to watch surveillance footage from Saturday night to Sunday morning and come forward with any information.

“Help us out in this situation,” Miller said. “Provide any information, however small, because we can put the pieces together.”

Tips can be submitted anonymously. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Akron Police Department Detective’s Bureau at 330-375-2490.
