CANTON, Ohio — Canton police believe that marijuana growing in a home where the homeowner shot and killed the burglars may have played a role in the attempted robbery, according to News 5's media partners at the Canton Repository.
Officers responded to a home on a report of a home invasion robbery shortly after 2 a.m. on 2nd Street Northwest Monday.
After officers arrived at the home, they were notified of a person who was brought in Aultman Hospital with gunshot wounds.
A preliminary investigation revealed the gunshot victim was one of the two alleged burglars in the home invasion robbery on 2nd Street Northwest.
The alleged burglar was shot by the homeowner during the robbery and was pronounced dead at 2:10 a.m., police said.
Capt. Dave Davis said responding officers found 10 marijuana plants, some mature, growing in a bedroom in the home.
