AKRON, Ohio — The University of Akron men's soccer team has been ranked in the NCAA's top five according to the United Soccer Coaches, coming in at No. 3.
The team was ranked second in the country in the Top Drawer Soccer poll.
Akron is returning seven starters in 2019, including All-Mid-American Conference performers, senior Skye Harter, junior David Egbo and sophomores Carlo Rittaco and Sam Tojaga.
The Zips won the MAC Championship last season and made it all the way to the College Cup, before losing to Maryland 1-0.
Akron will travel down to Cincinnati to take on Xavier in their season opener on Friday.
Their home opener will be on Sept. 2 against Stanford.
