1 dead, 2 in critical condition after car crashes into building in Cleveland

CLEVELAND — One man was killed and two others were transported to nearby hospitals after a car crash on Cleveland’s East Side Saturday evening.

EMS responded to the area of Superior Avenue and Russell Road after a car crashed into a building.

Authorities said a 2003 Jaguar hit the right rear of a 2009 Lexus.

The Jaguar veered off the side of the road, struck a tree and a fence, and then became engulfed in flames.

The man sitting in the front passenger seat was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 23-year-old man was transported from the scene to MetroHealth Hospital in critical condition. A 33-year-old man was transported to University Hospitals in critical condition, EMS said.

The driver and passenger inside of the Lexus were not injured.

A witness at the scene captured video of the fiery crash.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.

The incident remains under investigation.
