CLEVELAND — A 22-year-old man was shot and killed early Tuesday morning in Cleveland's Fairfax neighborhood, according to Cleveland police.

Police responded to a home in the 2100 block of East 71st Street, just south of Cedar Road.

A 22-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. Several people were surrounding the man, giving him aid until EMS arrived.

He was taken to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

On scene, police learned that an argument started between the victim and the sister of a 20-year-old man believed to be the gunman in the shooting. Police have not yet identified the alleged shooter at this time.

Police said the victim assaulted the alleged gunman's sister and in return, he produced a handgun and fired a single shot, striking the victim in the upper torso.

The homicide remains under investigation.
