1 teen killed after shooting, car crash in Cleveland

One teenager is dead and two others were injured after a shooting and car crash on Cleveland's east side Friday night.

According to Cleveland police, three teens were traveling in a car reported stolen out of Richmond Heights when the driver, Martell Thompson, 18, of Euclid was shot in the head near East 93rd Street and St. Clair Avenue around 6 p.m.

Police said after Thompson was shot, he crashed the Toyota into a nearby abandoned building. He was later pronounced dead. The other two victims, a 15-year-old and 17-year-old, were pulled out of the car by firefighters and EMS.

Around the time of the crash, police said they received a call about shots fired in the area of East 93rd and Parmalee Avenue. According to authorities, a group of males is believed to have fired the shots.

Shell casings were recovered nearby, police said.

The 17-year-old victim was transported to University Hospital Cleveland Medical Center for facial injuries. His condition is unknown. The 15-year-old was treated at a nearby hospital and released, police said.

Authorities have not said if charges have been filed regarding the stolen car or if any suspects have been named in the shooting.
