Long before cell phone videos and pictures flooded our inboxes at News 5 with damage inside The Vue apartments in Beachwood, former resident Jill Wieder says there were plenty of reasons for residents to be angry.

“There was the water repairs, the garage repairs, so much about living there in general that was far from luxury,” said Wieder.

We have emails sent from Comet Management and Stark Enterprises employees to residents showing repeated issues with the garage doors and the water pipes in the relatively new building. We also found three police reports filed over the past five months showing residents had concerns about packages being taken and their apartments being left unlocked by maintenance crews, resulting in personal belongings disappearing.

“You don’t want to make a big deal about one thing, but it was one thing on top of the next on top of the next, until it became a pattern,” said Wieder.

Stark Enterprises now has its sights set above the hustle and bustle of a busy Euclid Street in downtown Cleveland. The Beacon boasts nearly 200 apartments and views of downtown. It’s set to open in 2019.

Their NuCLEus would also bring office space, retail space and apartments just feet from the Q. Stark President and CEO Robert Stark said in November 2014 it would be part of an attempt to make sure there were no empty spots downtown. As of January 2017, it is still a parking lot.
