Police: Cleveland pizza shop employee shot during robbery returns fire, shoots suspect

CLEVELAND — A restaurant employee was shot during a robbery while working at a pizza shop in Cleveland late Friday night.

The shooting happened in the 7300 block of Harvard Avenue around midnight, according to Cleveland police.

Police said three employees were working inside of the pizza shop, when three men wearing masks entered.

The employees told police that the men ordered them to open the registers and give them money.

An employee was shot in the arm and leg. Police said it appears the employee returned fire and injured one of the robbers after being shot.

The employee then drove to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to police, one of the robbers was dropped off a short time later at a different hospital and then taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment.

The suspect sustained gunshot wounds to both of his legs.

Police said the suspect was confined and placed under arrest.

Authorities are still searching for the other two men.

The shooting is under investigation.
