CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are investigating after two people were shot, one fatally, on the city’s West Side Saturday night.
Around 9:40 p.m., EMS responded to the 3800 block of West 152nd Street.
A 58-year-old man and a 57-year-old man were transported to nearby hospitals, both in critical condition, EMS said.
The 57-year-old suffered from a gunshot wound to his chest and was pronounced dead at the hospital, police
said.
The other man also suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and remains at MetroHealth Medical Center, according to police.
A 57-year-old woman was also injured after she was pistol-whipped in the eye, police said.
Police said a 23-year-old suspect was taken into custody after he fought with the officers and bit them.
During the investigation, police learned that the individuals were all attending a Fourth of July party at the home when the 23-year-old man began arguing with the 57-year-old man, pulled a gun from his waistband and shot him before shooting the other man and the woman at the home.
Officers obtained a search warrant of the suspect's residence and discovered additional weapons and ammunition.
The shooting remains under investigation.
