CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are investigating several homicides that have occurred over the last week across the city.
Feb. 21
Around 5:30 a.m., officers responded to the 4000 block of East 57th Street for report of a male shot.
Once on scene, officers located a 28-year-old man at the top of a stairwell with multiple gunshot wounds and a citizen administering aid to the man.
The 28-year-old was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Officers learned on scene that the 28-year-old man who had been shot was the ex-boyfriend of the resident of the home and that he had broken into the house and assaulted her earlier in the day. A 26-year-old man had come over to ensure the resident’s safety and the ex-boyfriend returned and entered the home again.
The ex-boyfriend then got into an altercation with the 26-year-old man who had come over to protect the resident and the man shot the ex. The 26-year-old remained on scene, surrendered to officers and was taken into custody before being released pending further investigation.
Cleveland police said that the case may result in a justifiable homicide and the 26-year-old man was released on castle doctrine.
The shooting remains under investigation.
Feb. 22
Around 2:10 a.m., officers responded to the 3600 block of West 515st Street for a report of a woman stabbed.
Officers located the woman on a bed in a bedroom with multiple stab wounds. She was transported to University Hospitals where she was later pronounced dead.
After further investigation, officers located a 55-year-old man believed to be involved hiding in a car in the backyard of a home in the 10400 block of Glendale Avenue. He was then arrested.
Police said the man they arrested resided in the same home as the victim.
The woman was later identified as 38-year-old Antoinette Harris, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The incident remains under investigation.
Feb. 25
Around 2 a.m., officers responded to the area of Broadway Avenue and Booth Avenue for report of a possible stolen vehicle.
Once on scene, officers found the vehicle, which was not listed as stolen. The vehicle was unoccupied at the end of Booth Avenue, which has no outlet.
During their investigation, officers found blood in the car and drag marks leading away from the vehicle.
After following the drag marks, officers found a 20-year-old man dead with a gunshot wound to the head.
The 20-year-old was identified by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office as Jaylen Hatcher.
Police do not have suspect information at this time and the incident remains under investigation.

Feb. 27
Around 2 a.m., officers were called to the 6100 block of Haltnorth Walk for a report of a male shot.
Upon their arrival, officers found a 51-year-old man down on the ground outside. The man was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Residents in the area told police that they heard gunshots but did not see the incident. The man was discovered by a passerby who then called police.
Police have no suspect information at this time and the incident remains under investigation.
