Cleveland police investigating two separate homicides

CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are investigating two separate homicides that occurred on Wednesday.

The first homicide happened at 8 a.m. in the 9300 block of Empire Avenue.

Police were called to the scene of an open field for suspicious activity, where a body was found.

The female victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said they learned multiple shots were heard at 11 p.m. on Tuesday and an older model black van or SUV was seen leaving the scene.

The second homicide happened around 11:30 a.m. in the 2500 block of East 109th Street.

When police arrived, they found a 26-year-old woman who had been shot.

The woman was transported to University Hospital, where she later died.

Police said the woman was involved in an argument with a 32-year-old.

The man produced a handgun and began shooting, striking the woman multiples times, according to police.

Police said the man then rode away in an unknown direction on a motorcycle.
