CLEVELAND — Cleveland residents living in the area of Rockwell Avenue are demanding a stop to continued violence in the troubled night club district.

Multiple homeowners contacted News 5 about multiple shootings, fights and carjackings that have taken place in and around the Alibi Inn since March of 2016.

Residents were too afraid to do an on-camera interview, but told News 5 they have also dealt with disruption and loud music coming from The Dstrkt Hybrid Lounge.

Homeowners said they have filed multiple complaints with Cleveland Police Third District Headquarters and Ward 7 Councilman Basheer Jones in the search for a safety solution.

Jones told News 5 he is trying to work with business owners and the neighborhood in an effort to stop the violence and late night disruptions.

"No one should have to have the trauma of people experiencing car jackings, killings, murders, whatever the case may be," Jones said

"I'm working to create a memorandum of understanding, where this is what the residents are expecting and this is what we're expecting from the businesses."

"And if the businesses cannot follow that MOU, then we're going to do whatever we can to shut them down."

"We try to make sure that the businesses are working in conjunction with the community, if that doesn't happen, it's going to be a major problem."

News 5 spoke with owner of the Alibi Inn and she said she is working to make improvements, hiring a new management team and security chief.

Our effort to reach management or ownership at Dstrkt Hybrid Lounge, has so far not earned us a response.
